Tour The Woodshop
Take a mini-tour around our woodshop. Click on one of the tools to learn more about that item. The tools on the map are ones that are permanently out and not something that gets put away. If you look through the Shop Machines menu above you will find others that only come out as needed.
Click on an area of the map that you are interested in to learn more about that tool are space in our shop. We will add more detail as time goes on. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us and we will do our best to help. This workbench was added during our recent remodel. During the build we integrated electric, the crosscut table saw, added options to the dust collector for a future downdraft sanding table build and much more. The extra space for assembly combined with the more "open concept" design makes the shop more functional and feel a lot more open. This is the area where most of the country crafts are painted. However, with a recent remodel we will be transitioning those duties to a different area of the shop. While we might still paint here, I suspect it may get used for pieces that are created elsewhere and need time to dry/cure undisturbed. This is a larger open area in the shop that we use when we are restoring furniture or assembling very large pieces. Generally, we keep this space open and ready for whatever project is coming next. If you are going to restore older pieces that require repairs and not just stripping/refinishing it is very handy to be able to comfortable walk around all sides of the project. This workbench is where country crafts will be painted/finished. It is also the staging area where products and materials are worked on when we are doing a restoration project. This area is less of a workbench and more....storage. We are considering making it into a dedicated work area, but in the meantime, we have several large shelves in place to hold some of the shorter wood stock we use frequently. Often we will pull from this area if we are making one-off cutting boards, crafts, or need to build a jig for the shop. My Dad taught photography for decades. During that time he had built a dark room for developing film at home so he didn't have to stay after hours at work. As time progressed this room became an area that was dust-free (mostly) and where fine detail work could be done. While we aren't processing pictures in this space anymore we do use this room for storage, to wash brushes and since the fridge is in there it's where I keep a steady supply of root beer.
