Grizzly G1067Z Lathe

The Grizzly G1067Z lathe is the workhorse lathe in our shop. All of our handles, tables legs, pepper grinders, etc have been turned on this unit. We originally purchased this model in 2003 although it has since been discontinued by Grizzly as they progressed to newer models. The 40″ span of available turning space allows us the room to spin table legs and stair balusters with ease and finishing is simple with the variable speed control. While far from being one of the high-end commercial models that Grizzly carries we have leaned on this machine hard and it has only required very minimal maintenance. I would be comfortable in saying that we have hundreds of hours of run time on the lathe by now and outside of needing a little grease and one broken chuck we haven’t had to do much to it. We have a smaller lathe from Grizzly as well but that one doesn’t get used nearly as hard as its big brother here.

Take a look at the specs below directly from the Grizzly website:

Without a doubt, this 1/2 H.P. all ball-bearing lathe beats all the others when it comes to quality and value. It can be used for spindle turning, or the headstock and tool rest can be rotated for convenient faceplate turning. The Model G1067Z offers a full 14″ of swing over its precision-ground cast iron bed and 40″ between centers – plenty of room for most turning projects. Six speeds, ranging from 600 – 2,100 R.P.M. offer plenty of flexibility so you can maintain maximum variable-speed control. It comes with live center, spur center, and faceplate. An extremely versatile machine!
