Let’s Build

Follow along as we explore the world of woodworking. We’ll learn about custom furniture, butcher blocks, restorations, country crafts, and more.

Who Are We?

ES&S Woodworking is a family of makers. We love to build, to construct, to create. We are lead by our chocolate lab shop manager, Benson, who demands delicious snacks and our best scrap wood as payment. We don’t have a brick and mortar building for you to visit (yet!) and we are currently not taking any more custom orders. We have been extremely fortunate to have a large number of orders that filled our schedule for months to come. Please feel free to reach out with questions and we are happy to make recommendations for friendly woodshops we work closely with.

What’s New In The Woodshop?

Stay on top of our current projects and learn a little about the process of furniture making, restoration, crafting, and our various tools and equipment. You’ll find out that our woodshop runs on family, root beer, and the idea that most things are “too good not to be better”. Let’s build something together.

Fix Your Drawers

Fix Your Drawers

Being a woodworker is 50% knowing what to do, 40% knowing how to look up what you should do, and 10% knowing how to fix what you did wrong. However, sometimes you just come across an issue you didn't anticipate. While building some furniture recently we realized that...

Filter Out The Nonsense

Filter Out The Nonsense

We've been doing a lot of sanding on our restoration projects in the last few weeks and that can take its toll on the shop and your lungs. Air filtration is an important safety aspect of woodworking. Aside from wearing a personal mask, it is also key to try and filter...

Cutting Boards – Back To Our Roots

Cutting Boards – Back To Our Roots

Building cutting boards is sort of like taking our woodshop back to its roots. When we first started out as a company we sold more cutting boards than anything else. Building new inventory is still one of those calming activities that we enjoy a few times a year....

Sanding, Sanding and Sanding

Sanding, Sanding and Sanding

Sanding is one of the tasks you will do in a woodshop that rarely gets enough credit. It is also the task that people rarely think of ahead of time and properly plan for. If you spend 10 hours on a restoration at least 7 of them will be sanding in one form or another....

Citristrip Before And After

Citristrip Before And After

This is a great progress pic showing a before and after of stripping the clearcoat and stain from our table restoration. During the winter, when we have to do this indoors, we use a product called Citristrip. Unsurprisingly it has a citrus scent which I find...

Homemade Tools Have Their Place

Homemade Tools Have Their Place

Not every tool is something you have to buy. Sometimes you get to build them. One of the most useful homemade tools we have in our shop is a set of these sanding dowels. Nothing more than sandpaper glued to different diameter wooden dowels. They might not seem like...

Hand Made Items From Our Shop

We build because we enjoy the process of building. Creating something beautiful from raw materials is what wakes us up each day. Some people need coffee, but there is something to be said for the smell of sawdust in the morning.

100% Kiln Dried Wood

Your final product is too important to risk using inferior wood products. That is why ES&S Woodworking only uses kiln-dried woods in our furniture and specialty projects. The kiln drying process reduces the chance of wood movement which can cause failures.

Restoration and Resto-Mod

Whether it’s bringing a family heirloom back to life or turning a flea market find into the perfect accent piece, ES&S Woodworking is excited to get started. Contact us today so we can talk about turning your vision into a reality.

From Our Stock Room

Sometimes we feel inspired to create something with no customer in mind. When that happens the piece will often end up in our stock room until we can find it a forever home. Be sure to check back as we add to this collection often.

old violet mirror

Mirror In Old Violet - $79

This mirror was rescued from an auction before coming to our shop for some TLC. The wood was prepared for paint and covered in Annie Sloan Old Violet before receiving some light distressing and a clear coat. This old mirror is well built and very heavy.

Small Bench - $90

The top is made from solid maple and walnut. The base and legs are made from red oak and rubbed with dark walnut stain. That was then coated with Jacobean stain to give is a dark and rich color. The whole piece received a final clear coat to help it last for decades.

Maple Toy Chest - $260

Available in maple, cherry, pine, walnut, and hickory. The price listed is for unfinished maple and will be adjusted based on wood species chosen. We can apply stain if desired and a clear coat is also an option. Every chest includes soft-close hinges to keep fingers from being hurt when the lid closes.
