Grizzly G1182 Jointer

The Grizzly 1182HW jointer is a key player in the ES&S woodshop. It allows us a lot of room to make decisions on what type of lumber we want to buy. Primarily, we pick up a lot more rough-cut lumber directly from sawmills than we would without it. We combine this with the planer to really dial in the material we use in our pieces. The jointer can take the rough and unusable edge or face of a board and, by removing razor-thin slices with each pass, produce a beautiful and flawless piece of wood. You will be amazed when you see what you originally thought was garbage for the fire bin suddenly turns into the perfect piece of hardwood.

This model measures in at 47″ long which works well for our needs. When shopping for a jointer you’ll find a tremendous amount of size options but for most needs (including those of the home woodworker) a 6″ blade with a 47″ deck should handle your projects well. The specific model has been discontinued by Grizzly and replaced with the G0813. They share basically the same specs so anyone shopping around for something similar to what we are using would be hard-pressed to find anything closer than this. Because of that, I am going to share the spec sheet on the G0813 below so you can see what it’s running with. This is direct from the Grizzly website.
