Key To The Past

bloodwood key

A little throw back Thursday action for me today. This is the first butterfly key I ever attempted. You might think I was smart and did a few test keys before cutting into my cherry slab. You might think that, but you’d be wrong. I just randomly cut a key on the band saw, traced it on the cherry and started chiseling away.

My lack of prep is probably why there is such a noticeable gap on part of it there that needed some resin to fill. Still, this bloodwood key in cherry ended up looking pretty great.
