Do you hate picking out lumber at the big box stores? Us too. When we have to buy from the nearby national brands we usually end up spending the bulk of our time there sifting through wood that is too far warped to be useful. For this project we needed a single pressure treated 4×4. After rooting through everything they had I thought we found just the right one. That is until I surfaced it perfectly square and made my first cross cut. Notice that split in the image directly in the center? Yeah, that goes the entire way through the whole board. Thank goodness I wasn’t using this for anything structural.
But I still need a 4×4, so off to the store….
