Cedar Chest Restoration Sale

cedar chest restoration

One of our furniture restorations is ready to find its forever home! This cedar chest came to us in very bad shape. The original top was a peeling veneer with water damage and not actually made from cedar. That was cut up for scrap and thrown out right away. We replaced it with one we made from solid red oak sanded out to be smooth as glass and coated in dark walnut stain from Minwax. Then it received several coats of clear from General Finishes Arm R Seal.

The base of the chest is solid cedar with a decorative veneer to give it that ornate styling you see in the image. The surface was cracking and in need of some TLC so we put in the necessary elbow grease and gave it generous coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old Ochre. We found the original legs inside the chest when it came to us so we built a solid framework to support them and reinforce the chest itself and then reattached appropriately.

This chest is for sale to the first interested party. We are asking $250+tx picked up (or delivered within a reasonable distance). If you would like soft close hinge supports added we can do that for an additional $60. They will support the solid red oak top from closing on fingers or slamming down unintentionally. There is only one of these so first come first serve!
