On July 26th I posted an image of a raw section of sapele from Bailey Wood Products. This is that very same piece of wood after cutting it down to the needed size, routing, sanding and a coat of clear. Sapele is one of my favorite species of wood to work with. To get the finish you see here I worked it through 80, 120, 180 and 220 grit sand paper. Once the clear coat (three coats of General Finishes Arm R Seal) is cured I will sand once more with 600 grit before coating with a Minwax Paste Wax. The final product will be smooth as glass and last for decades.
