We recently took a trip to the Antique Automobile Club of America Museum in Hershey, PA. They had a pretty sizable collection of old school cars, trucks and buses on display including this fine example here. This is a 1948 Pontiac Streamliner Station Wagon. Any car surviving from the late 40’s is impressive but to take it up to the next level you have to know that this beautiful is all original and NOT RESTORED. That’s right. That wood is the original lumber used when it was build and they haven’t done anything to it in order to make it look like that today. Absolutely amazing. Owned by the same family for over 50 years it currently has less than 36,000 original miles on it. It even boasts some pretty amazing features like a back up light and electric clock.
Finding anything from the 40’s (car or otherwise) is usually pretty neat. We like to collect old hand tools from back before there were any other options. Seeing this car at the AACA museum made us think about the work that would have had to go into crafting each individual piece of wood. Not just the time and effort but the skill involved is impressive. You should check out the museum’s 3 floors and get your picture with the bus from the movie Speed (Another antique depending on your age).
