Generations of Craftsman Quality

craftsman drill generations

Recently we were involved in rebuilding an outdoor staircase. During the project it became clear that things would go more smoothly with several drills. Now of course we own modern cordless tools that we use regularly. There is something to be said for the consistent torque applied from a corded unit.

Pictured here are three generations of Craftsman corded drills. The top one is from 2010+ and is actually a hammer drill. It’s a work horse. The middle one was my Dad’s and it was bought in the late 1980’s at some point he thinks. The bottom one…well that one we aren’t sure on. It has a Craftsman stamp and a serial number but we weren’t able to identify the year. What do they all have in common? They all work. Simple as that. Whether it’s the most recently purchased or the one handed down after 40+ years of use they all still do their job. I’m going to do a little write up on the site regarding each of these but I think its important people realize that just because a tool is older doesn’t mean its obsolete. A little TLC can go a long way.
