These antique style pepper grinders are fully functional and make excellent gifts. Each one is hand turned on the lathe before being given a generous top coat to help it keep its shine for years.

The dark black lines you see can be created in several ways. One way which has proven very successful is to use copper. While on the lathe we turn up the speed to a high rpm and then using copper wire with wooden handles we pull against the wood. After a few seconds the copper heats up and burns the wood. The end result is a nice, even, permanent black design.
