Springtime is the perfect reason to building beautiful plant boxes for your yard. This planter box was inspired by an image that was found online. They used reclaimed pallet wood for theirs but we didn’t have any pallets large enough to accommodate. Beautiful pine was substituted instead. This keeps the overall weight of the box down. Pine is substantially lighter than the hardwoods used in pallets and will allow us to move the planter indoors for winter storage. It is stained in a 50/50 mix of Cherry and Jacobean. Then it was coated with a generous application of exterior clear. The clear coat adds the benefits of protecting the wood from the rotting from the rain and dirt as well as preventing fading from the sun. The high legs keep this planter up off the ground and gives a lot of options for placement.
