Not every job requires an expensive new electric toy from Grizzly or Craftsman. This block plane has been in my family for decades and I just used it recently to subtly shape some molding I was installing at my house. I could have used any number of newer methods to ensure accuracy and efficiency but there is something to be said for using a true hand tool. The final result may have imperfections or be just a hair off in sizing, but it’s going to have character. I think a lot of projects can benefit from not being perfect. It makes them much more fun to look at.
